The Gymnastic Club "Alexander the Great" of Thessaloniki

The Gymnastic Club "Alexander the Great" of Thessaloniki is a historical sports club based in the district of Depot. It was founded in 1917 as "Dynami" and renamed "Megas Alexandros" in 1920, with official recognition in 1923. Its colours are red and black. The club has sections for football, basketball, volleyball, volleyball, weightlifting and fencing. The football department has a long history, participating in the city's first official championship in 1923. Alexander the Great has competed in various divisions, including the Second National League and the Third National League. Notable successes include winning the EPSM Cup in 1972-73 and multiple titles in the EPSM First Division. Despite periods of absence from the leagues, the club returned to action in 2019, continuing its rich athletic tradition in Thessaloniki. Megas Alexandros remains an important part of the city's sporting history, with its home stadium "Kaminikia" being a reference point for the team's fans.
