Description
The parish church of Archangel Michael at Maritsa is a 19th century (1839-1856) cross-vaulted single-nave church, with more recent additions of the narthex and gynaiconite (lady chapel), a remarkable iconostasis from 1856, portable icons from the same era, and a five-story bell tower from 1922. Τhe quaint village of Maritsa, is a popular destination for those who wish to enjoy the traditional cuisine of Rhodes. To the northwest is the “Diagoras” International Rhodes Airport. The Valley of the Butterflies and the village of Psinthos are located to the south and at a distance of less than one kilometre.
