Title
Saints Peter and Paul in Haraki
Description
The small church of Saints Peter and Paul is located in the Haraki area, the harbor of Malona village, at a distance of 40 kilometres south from the city of Rhodes. It is celebrated on June 29 and it is a major pilgrimage for the residents of Archangelos, Malona and Masari, as well as for the visitors of the island. On the day of the celebration, a brilliant feast is held accompanied by music, dancing and food. Haraki is a tourist resort during the summer season, and it attracts a large number of tourists every day. At a very close distance from the area on a hill which is 85 meters high we find the Byzantine-chivalric castle of Feraklou (Faraklou) which is open for visitors. Next to the castle lies the sandy beach of Agia Agathi (Saint Agathi), which takes its name from the church under the same name (14th-15th century) that is carved into the rock on the left side of the beach.
